ENGLAND: (1760-1820) King George III 1774 Gold Guinea. OBVERSE: FORTH portrait of George III facing right. Lettering GEORGIVS III DEI GRATIA. REVERSE: Rose Shaped Shield date either side. This fascinating treasure find was discovered along with eight other guinea in the parish of Eccleshall, Staffordshire UK. Discovered on the 10th January 2015 on private farm land by a metal detector enthusiast the hoard was subsequently offered to the British Museum who were not able to purchase the find at that time, so it was split between the land owner and finder. The interesting provenance, coupled with a nice Very Fine example guinea. The coin has a minor kink in the field, however one feels this only adds to its authenticity!
