UNITED STATES OF AMERICA: Struck to commemorate the Young Astronauts program and its educational objectives, this 1988 Gold, Silver, and Bronze Space Commemorative Medal set includes the original display box and Certificate of Authenticity. A wonderful collector item, this America in Space set contains a 0.295oz Gold Space Shuttle Medal, a 0.943oz Silver Astronaut Medal, and a 0.882oz Bronze Space Shuttle Medal. The set was struck to commemorate the Young Astronauts Program and its educational objectives. Each Medal features an eagle atop the Young Astronauts emblem on the reverse while the obverse celebrates the Space Program. The Silver Medal features an astronaut in Space with the U.S. Flag, the Gold Medal depicts a space shuttle in flight, and the Bronze Medal features a space shuttle with stars and stripes on the U.S. Flag. The Set unfortunately has lost it's certificate but the coins are as struck.
