UNITED STATES OF AMERICA: Medal Program set struck to commemorate the Young Astronauts program. All three medals struck at the Philadelphia Mint. GOLD Obverse: Features a space shuttle in flight with "LIBERTY" and "1988" inscribed. SILVER Obverse: Depicts an astronaut saluting the flag he's just planted on the moon with "LIBERTY" and "1988" inscribed. BRONZE Obverse: Shows an upward bound shuttle with "LIBERTY" and "1988" inscribed. Reverses: Depicts a spread eagle perched atop the Young Astronauts emblem surrounded by the inscription "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA". Medals are housed in individual capsules in one presentation case but sadly not the Certificate of Authenticity.
