ENGLAND: (1547-53) KING EDWARD VI 1551-1553 SILVER SHILLING. OBVERSE: Facing bust, Mintmark Tun. King Edward known as the 'boy King' was just nine when he came to the throne! His short reign saw the Protestant faith become more explicit and aspects of the Roan Catholic practices were eradicated and replacement of the Prayer book from Latin to English led to rebellions in Cornwall and Devon. Edward himself was not physically robust, and sadly he died of tuberculosis in 1553. An interesting reign, and a nice example of the shilling for this period. Fine plus condition
