Description
GREAT BRITAIN (1837-1901) Queen Victoria Young Head 1876 London Mint 'Douro' St. George & Dragon Gold Sovereign. OBVERSE: First Young head facing left. W.W buried in the narrow trun. Lettering VICTORIA D.G. BRITANNIAR. REG. F. D. REVERSE: St George and the Dragon, horse with long tail. Small B.P and date in ex'. The Coin is graded by PCGS as AU58 and a certificate of authenticity is provided with the coin suggesting it was from the Shipwreck Douro that sank of the Bay of Biscay in 1882. The wreck was salvaged in the mid 1990's and a hoard of over 10,000 coins were recovered. A nice talking point for the new potential owner.
