GREAT BRITAIN: (1837-1901) Queen Victoria 1891 Melbourne Mint Jubilee Head 'Short Tail' Gold Sovereign. Obverse: Jubilee bust facing left G of D:G closer to Crown , Normal J.E.B (Angled J) designers initials. Legend: VICTORIA D:G BRITT.DEF:F:D Reverse: St. George and the Dragon, horse with 'short tail', edge milled. S3867B. DISHM15. This coin is rated Rarity 5 in the new Michael Marsh book (5-10 in existence) , however given we have six in this auction one assumes there may be more than this book indicates. All the sovereigns are from the same collection however so who knows? This example has been graded by PCGS as AU53 which is has a population of 17 (11 graded higher). RARE.
