Koson. Gold stater, 8.44g (12h). Thrace, 44-3 BC. Obverse: Roman consul walking left, accompanied by two lictors before and after carrying axe-like weapons, It has been postulated that the BR refers to Brutus. An alternate view is that the letters relates to BA (sileus), i.e, king, as in King Koson; Reverse: Eagle with spread wings standing left on horizontal spear, clutching laurel wreath in talons. Graded by IGC MS62. NB Please note this lot is protected by a reserve.
