GREAT BRITAIN: (1952-2022) Queen Elizabeth II 1953 Proof Cupro-nickel Half Crown. Obverse: Features the Mary Gillick designed Portrait of young Elizabeth II facing right. Legend: ELIZABETH II DEI GRATIA BRITT: OMN:REGINA Reverse: Crowned Shield flanked by E and R; FID DEF HALF CROWN. The obverse design for the early Half Crown were notoriously weakly struck and lacking in detail, later the dies were recut to provide a sharper image. The first year (1953) is the only year to bear the 'BRITT OMN' translated ' of all British Possessions'. Edge: Milled. Graded by NGC PF66 Cameo / Population 43/ 21 Graded Higher.
