Description
GREAT BRITAIN: (1837-1901) Queen Victoria 1849 Young Head London Mint Shield Gold Sovereign, Obverse: Victoria Small Young Head Bust facing Left, First Bust, W.W. in relief, Date below has a doubled struck 1 and 4/4 error. Legend: VICTORIA DEI GRATIA Reverse: First Plain Shield & surmounted by a crown with laurel branches on each side. Legend: BRITANNIARUM REGINA FID:DEF: Edge: Milled. S3852. Whilst there is no error recorded for this coin it is without any doubt an unrecorded variety. The one is double struck, the 8 is notably smaller than the other numbers and the 4 is definitely struck over another 4, looks slightly higher than the prominent number. The coin itself is in a good very fine near extremely fine condition with a scattering of minor digs to the neck and cheek. Otherwise it would be a true extremely fine coin.
Condition
Good Very Fine Condition or better.
