REVERSE: In the centre the Crowned Shield. Legend lettering: BRITANNIARUM REX FID: DEF: Edge: Milled. Description from the London Auction House this was purchased from was - 'Surfaces corroded, possibly from being underground, otherwise very fine'- We beg to differ. 1. Gold doesn't corrode underground (though it may rust over time. 2. This coin is 100% Ex-Mount - which is visible with the contact marks on the edges where prongs grasped the coin. Our description ' Ex-mount, dappled surface probably down to being gilded and then heated, scratches with some good hair detail'. Overall Fair - about Fine Condition.
