Australia: (1837-1901) Queen Victoria 1863 Sydney Half Sovereign. OBVERSE: Head of Queen Victoria facing left and wearing a wreath of banksia which is plaited, the date 1863 below.; around, VICTORIA D:G: BRITANNIAR: REG: F:D:REVERSE: At centre within a laurel wreath AUSTRALIA under a royal crown; above, SYDNEY MINT; below, HALF SOVEREIGN. The 1863 is probably about the third or fourth rarest of the Sydney Mint Australian Half Sovereigns, whilst the mintage is high it's likely most have been melted over time. This coin has some damage to the obverse field and partly to the reverse. Nevertheless, it's still a rare coin and one not often seen.
