Description
ENGLAND: (1714-27) King George I 1718 Quarter Guinea. Obverse: Laur head facing right, legend; GEORGIVS.D.G.M.B.R.FR.ET.HIB.REX.F.D. Reverse: Crowned cruciform shields Sceptres in angles. Edge: Milled. The Quarter Guinea was introduced for one year only during George I's reign, and again for one year during King George III's. Silver was at at an all time high, and it was decided the quarter guinea would bridge the gap. Unfortunately it was deemed too small for circulation and discontinued after 1718. The coin has previously been in jewelry, however it has uncirculated details and is an extremely eye catching coin!
Condition
