NETHERLANDS: 2019 Commemorative 'Based on the original Ducat of 1777' Proof Golden Ducat. Gold Ducat was the second in a four year series to mark the Gold Ducat's use over four centuries. They used the points of the compass as a guide to explore the trade routes in which the Gold Ducats played an important role. This particular year is focused on east to Asia, where in addition to the Dutch trading outpost of Batavia (Indonesia), the Dutch East India Company (VOC) founded many different trading posts in several countries. To make trade easier, the company minted their own coins, including the Gold Ducats. The coin struck at the Royal Dutch Mint to a Proof Standard is presented with case and certification. Cert no.484.
