GREAT BRITAIN: (1760-1820) King George III 1817 Gold Sovereign. Obverse: Head of George III Bust facing Right. Date below trun. Legend: GEORGIUS III D:G:BRITANNIAR:REX F:D: Reverse: St. George & Dragon. Legend Lettering: HONI.SOIT.QUI.MAL.Y.PENSE. Edge: Milled. First Sovereign of the Modern Coinage, and sought by all sovereign collectors. The coin has some nice detail to the laurel wreath, face and legend, slight flattening to the ear and cheek. A light scratch to the reverse through St George's streamer, field and legend. Possibly lightly cleaned in areas, otherwise a near very fine coin.
