ENGLAND: (1727-60) King George II 'Lima' Gold Half Guinea. Obverse: Intermediate Laur head facing left, Legend: GEORGIUS.II. DEI. GRATIA. LIMA below bust. Toothed border. Reverse: Crowned Quartered Shield of Arms, date separated by the crown. LETTERING: M.B.F. ET.H.REX.F.D.B. ET.L.D.S.R.I.A.T. ET.E. The word 'Lima' below the bust signifies the origin of the gold and silver coinage mined in (Lima Peru) which was captured by Admiral Anson (A Royal Naval Officer) in 1745 during his raids on Spanish Ships carrying treasures. . The Half Guinea (the rarest of all half guineas) is in a very Close Extremely Fine Condition with minor wear to the high points. A true centre piece to any half guinea Collection.
