GREAT BRITAIN: (1837-1901) Queen Victoria 1849 'Godless' 1st Year of Issue & One Year Type Silver Florin. So called Godless or Graceless a the design lacked the traditional DEI GRATIA inscription which translated means 'By the Grace of God'. Obverse: Gothic Type portrait of Victoria crowned facing left, with a platted braid draped under her ear. An embroidered dress features a shamrock and thistle. Legend: VICTORIA REGINA 1849. Reverse: Crowned cruciform shields with roses, a shamrock and thistle in the angles. The Shields consist of three lions passant for England, the lion rampant for Scotland and Harp for Ireland. The outer circle reads: ONE FLORIN ONE TENTH OF A POUND. Some great detail to the obverse hair and plat beneath Victoria's ear. A few minor digs and faint hairlines, with small edge nick to the rim. A sought after coin with pleasing eye appeal overall Good Very Fine Condition.
