Description
GREAT BRITAIN: (1837-1901) Queen Victoria Young Head 1853 London Mint Shield Gold Sovereign, Obverse: Head of Victoria Young Bust facing Left, Second Large Head, W.W in Incuse, Date below. Legend: VICTORIA DEI GRATIA Reverse: Plain Shield with Repositioned Legend & surmounted by a crown with laurel branches on each side. Legend: BRITANNIARUM REGINA FID:DEF: Edge: Milled. Number 36F in Michael Marsh. The rarer incuse type barely comes for sale. Rarity 2, and sought after by collectors. The coin is edgy which may indicate it may have at some time been in a mount, however there is no solder and there is a faint hairline across the face. The coin has nice lustre, and fairly decent detail to the hair and reverse. Overall Good Very Fine. Rarity 2.
