Description
GREAT BRITAIN: (1952-Present Day) Queen Elizabeth II 2016 Silver Maundy Money 4-Coin Set. Issued in St. George's Chapel Windsor. Struck in Proof Sterling Silver and presented in a case. Obverse: During Her Majesty The Queen's reign, her portrait on ordinary circulating coinage has been updated four times. However, Maundy money still bears the same portrait created by Mary Gillick that appear on the first coins of her reign in 1953. Handed out to elderly men and women, chosen because of the Christian service they have given to the Church and the community. The Ceremony takes place ever Maundy Thursday. There are the equivalent recipients as the Sovereigns age in years.
