GREAT BRITAIN: (1837-1901) Queen Victoria 1879 Young Head London Mint St. George & Dragon Gold Sovereign R3 Extremely Rare. Just 20,013 of these coins were originally struck and many would have been melted down or used in jewelry. Obverse: Young portrait of Victoria facing left, W.W. on the trun. Lettering: VICTORIA D:G:BRITANNIAR:REG:F:D: No Mint Mark below the bust denotes London Mint. Reverse: St. George slaying the Dragon with date below exergue. Edge: Milled. This coin has a rating rarity of R3 in the new Michael Marsh (Was Rarity 4) and this is an extremely difficult coin to find. A great addition for any sovereign collector!
