Description
GREAT BRITAIN: (1760-1820) King George III 1820 Gold Sovereign, close 2 Variety Rated rare in Michael Marsh. Obverse: Head of George III Bust facing Right. Date below trun. Legend: GEORGIUS III D:G:BRITANNIAR:REX F:D: Reverse: St. George & Dragon. Legend Lettering: HONI.SOIT.QUI.MAL.Y.PENSE. Edge: Milled. S3785C. The coin has no solder or trace of mount, some obvious signs of circulation and wear. It may have been in a friendly mount as there are a few contact points to the edge and signs of cleaning. Though it's a rare variety and does have some detail to both obverse and the reverse so would make a great starter coin.
