Description
GREAT BRITAIN: (1952-2022) Queen Elizabeth II 1994 'Bank of England' Piedfort Silver Proof 2 Pound Coin & Queen Elizabeth II 1997 'Development of Technology' Piedfort Silver 2 Pound Coin. 1994/ 1997 Obverse: Features Raphael Maklouf's elegant portrait of Queen Elizabeth II facing right. Legend: ELIZABETH . II . DEI . GRATIA . REGINA . F.D . TWO POUNDS. 1994 Reverse: The design celebrates the tercentenary of the 'Bank of England' and features Britannia in the centre looking on at a bank of money. 1997 Reverse: The central area of the coin identifies with the Iron Age and features decorative whorls so familiar in ancient Celtic art. The second ring with its series of cogs and wheels, encompasses the dynamic growth of industrial development in Britain during the eighteenth century, while the third ring with it's intricate pattern based on the silicon chip embraces the computer age of the twentieth century. The final outer ring represents the internet and information superhighway which allows us to look at the present and contemplate the astonishing advances that have been made in computer technology (if only we had known). Both boxed and certificated.
