Description
GREAT BRITAIN: (1820-30) 1828 King George IV Bare Head Gold Sovereign. OBVERSE: 2nd Head facing left with date below. Legend: GEORGIUS IV DEI GRATIA. REVERSE: 2nd Crowned shield. LEGEND: BRITANNIARUM REX FID: DEF. RARITY 4 Michael Marsh (15-25 examples known). Estimated mintage of 386,182 - however it is believed that far less of this date exist due to the coins production starting in December 1828. This example was last auctioned at 'Baldwins Auction 88 Thursday 8th May in 2014' from the 'Hemisphere Collection of Gold Sovereigns'. The coin (once lightly cleaned) is in an Extremely Fine Condition, an extremely Rare coin in any grade. This coin is finer than the Bentley Collection example auctioned in 2012-2013. A very rare find, and provenance for the most discerning of collectors.
