Description
GREAT BRITAIN: (1952-present day) Queen Elizabeth II 2017 Gold Proof Twelve Sided £1 Coin. Based on the Old Twelve Sided Threepence the coin is struck with the inner circle yellow gold and outer circle red gold. Obverse: Designer is Jody Clark. Fifth Portrait. Queen Elizabeth II bust facing right. Legend: ELIZABETH II.D.G.REG.F.D 2017. In small letters below the bust is the artist's initials J.C (for Jody Clark). Repeated multiple times in micro-text around the rim: ONE POUND. A security feature is a "latent image" under the Queen's effigy - something like a hologram that changes from a £ symbol to the number 1 when the coin is seen from different angles. Reverse: Is known as Nations of the Crown, represents the United Kingdom and its four constituent parts - Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and England and features their floral emblems, respectively the English rose, the Welsh leek, the Scottish thistle and the Northern Irish shamrock emerging from one stem within a royal coronet. Lettering: ONE POUND with Repeated multiple times in micro-text around the rim the date: 2017. The design was created by David Pearce who won a public competition at the age of 15. His initials, DP are in the right field under the crown. Comes with all Royal Mint packaging. FDC Certificate number 1773.
