AUSTRALIA: (1952-PRESENT DAY) Queen Elizabeth II 1999 Perth Mint Centenary Proof Sovereign. This beautifully presented sovereign was struck to celebrate 100 years of the Perth Mint and is unusual due to it being one of the only issued sovereigns that have a surround of 99.9% Silver. The Sovereign in the centre is the same size and weight as any other sovereign struck in 22ct proof gold. The sovereign marks the historic role of the sovreign and the importance of silver in the Mint's Heritage. OBVERSE: Portrays the effigy of Queen Elizabeth by Ian Rank-Broadly and the lettering ELIZABETH II AUSTRALIA 100 DOLLARS on the silver outer circle. REVERSE: Bears the famous St George and the Dragon and the lettering THE PERTH MINT CENTENARY SOVREIGN 1899-1999. Presented in a wooden case with original outer box and certification. certification number 5685.
